Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new attachments. They can also increase the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.
Usually, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and tools for gathering, offering an attribute bonus or additional effect while the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or gotten from missions and chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade statistics will be as well as the required material or component needed to complete the upgrade.
There are item upgrades : universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type restriction. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and cannot be used in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools If a player replaces one glyph by another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, excluding inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from previous versions in some important ways. Gear is now categorised in tracks and each item is able to be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level, but the required materials don't increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the impact of these items, instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.
This allows the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Power and it resets to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to the maximum level, it is able to get an affix to increase its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon that has a standard base will only have two affixes. A legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the item's current level and the slot it's in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower success rate.
To measure the height of a building, engineers will use a level to compare the measurement against a known reference point such as a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level and then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are constructed to a high standard of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is an essential element of the game, and it can increase the strength, damage or other characteristics. This can be done via the menu for items or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be done in the rarest of circumstances.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the amount of level that has been filled.
Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats for your build more often than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for every stat. This can be a great or a bad thing, dependent on your needs and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may also come with a unique, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the greater chances of obtaining the bonus of your choice.

The game also has a number set that grants an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on a unit. This is an excellent method to add lots of power to a character without spending an excessive amount of money.
Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling can help you gain a stronger character quicker, which enables you to advance in the game and achieve higher levels.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be arranged in different ways. They can have various dimensions, contain no elements at all or contain just one element. They are useful for organizing data or separating information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in many ways, such as by size and shape.
There are a range of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that provide high defense and set bonuses. However, weapon upgrades often do not improve the stats of the item when as compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you own a lot of armor or weapons already.
item upgrades are upgraded for their own special functions that can be useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).
Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items to the level of the different tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its attributes, along with the required items to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for instance, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
Generally speaking generally speaking, jewelry and weapons offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
